Something happens. Your mind learns what it means. Over time, that meaning can begin to shape what you expect, feel and do — often before you consciously think it through.

The format

This = That

A Code does not try to describe your whole story. It isolates one connection so you can see it, test it and explore it.

THIS

A cue or experience

A situation, action, feeling, person, outcome or something you recognise.

The learned link

The association that gives the first part meaning and can make a familiar response easier to trigger.

THAT

A meaning or consequence

What the first part has come to mean to you: danger, weakness, rejection, obligation, pressure or something else.

If rest has become linked with laziness, finishing the work may still not feel like enough permission to stop.

Why it can feel automatic

Brains learn from experience. When an association is activated repeatedly, the response can become faster and more familiar. You do not have to consciously reason your way to the conclusion every time.

That does not mean the association is fixed. The same capacity to learn also gives us the capacity to learn different responses.

Changing a Code

Recognise the old link. Practise a different one.

Within the Matrix Codes Method, the rewrite process is structured in five stages. We do not treat this as literally deleting a neuron or a memory; the work is with how a person responds to the learned association.

Witness

Name the association clearly enough to work with it.

Neutralize

Work with the old meaning and the response attached to it.

Install

Introduce the new association you want to practise instead.

Embody

Bring the new meaning into a felt, behavioural response rather than leaving it as an idea.

Lock

Retest and reinforce the change within the Matrix Codes process.

An important distinction

“Matrix Code” is the language of our method.

It is not a neuroscience term. Research on learning and neuroplasticity shows that experience can change neural connections and network activity. We use the microscopy above as a visual metaphor for association — not as footage of a sentence being stored inside a single neuron.

The “This = That” format is a practical way to name a connection you may recognise in your own experience.
